NO HOT WATER

GAS LEAKING

 

If you smell gas, TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY (at the gas meter or at the gas bottles)

The gas meter is usually located outside at the front or side of the house or building. The stop valve will either be a lever or a small handle. To turn off the gas, turn the lever 90 degrees from its original position. To turn off gas bottles, turn the valve on each bottle in a clockwise direction.

BURST WATER PIPE

 

TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY at the meter/at the pump to prevent water damage.

Turn off the water meter by turning the tap handle clockwise.

If the leak is near any electrics or appliances, switch of the mains power (unless the switch is wet – in which case, do not touch it - Immediately ring 5152 6144 or outside business hours 0488 060 652.

The water meter is usually located at the front boundary line of your property, near the garden tap. In units, your water supply tap is usually at the front or rear of your unit as well as a meter at the front of the entire property that turns off the water to the whole complex.

 

SUSPECTED WATER LEAKAGE

 

If you suspect a water leakage, but do not know where the water is leaking from…

1. Last thing at night, turn off all taps inside and outside the house. Ensure cistern is not running into toilet

2. Read the water meter last thing at night before you go to bed. Make sure you leave the water meter stop tap on.

3. Read the meter again in the morning (before flushing toilets or turning taps on) to check if there has been an increase in the reading.

 

Leaks tend to get worse, so call a qualified tradesman as soon as you suspect a leak. Ring 5152 6144.

ROOF LEAKING

 

Don’t wait until it is too late. A small leak can quickly turn into a major and costly problem. Call the experts in to repair leaky roofs, guttering and downpipes as soon as you notice a few drips. Ring 5152 6144.

 

Prevention:

Blocked gutters are most often caused by the accumulation of leaves, moss and dirt. Clean your gutters regularly to avoid overflow and damage to your roof and house. Clear gutters and flush downpipes annually to reduce fire hazards and prevent potential damage to ceilings, roofs, brickwork and internal walls.  Should you require assistance to clean your gutters, call 5152 6144

 

LEAKING TOILET (CISTERN)

 

If the leak is severe, turn off the cistern by turning the cistern stop valve, usually located below the cistern, clockwise and ring 5152 6144 for further advice.
